In December 2009, Italian kitchen design showroom Arclinea was looking to create an annual holiday charity event to celebrate food and design at their lovely downtown San Diego location. We collaborated with the Arclinea SD designers to develop an event format that would enlist local architects and designers to re-imagine the gingerbread house for an exhibition and charity auction. The first year was a great success, raising over $5,000 for the local charity organization Second Chance.
Over ten incredible gingerbread houses were designed and constructed by the likes of mi-workshop, Matt Devine, Aaron Anderson, and Boomerang for Modern and drew hundreds of guests to the festive occassion.
